language game
Language games are the common >knowledge that enables the members of a >group to interact. In the original use by the philosopher Wittgenstein, the concept of language refers to rules governing the use of linguistic signs in a community of speakers. Whereas the signs proper are referential knowledge, the rules are referential and non-referential. In particular, the context-sensitivity of rules is referred to as "life forms", which are an important constituent of >culture. In economics, language games are closely related to the concept of "frames", which denotes the context sensitivity of cognitive schemes that gives >meaning to actions.
Every >game is based on a language game that determines the way how the players interprete the moves and pay-offs in the game.
