Studying at the Faculty of Management and Economics
The following information will give you an idea what it means to study at the Faculty of Management and Economics, Witten/Herdecke University. Witten/Herdecke University offers excellent professional training to students of economics.
Assuming social responsibility
A specific focus, apart from subject-related knowledge and training in academic skills, is on strategies of learning. We strive to turn students into graduates with a comprehensive education, a wide horizon and abilities of “lateral thinking”. Studies in Witten stimulate judgement, critical assessment and reflection, and encourage a wider perspective as well as the will to assume social responsibility.
In July 2009 the Faculty of Management and Economics signed the Global Compact "Principles for Responsible Management Education" to underline our long-term commitment to the values of global social responsibility.
Our students see themselves as entrepreneurs in their own right. Freedom to organize their studies is coupled with the responsibility to face the resulting challenges. The Witten teaching concept promotes acquisition of active knowledge via application in practice. As a rule, an experience of problem-solving processes in practice brings answers to theoretical questions.
Initiative and commitment
Teachers and students develop aims, contents and structures of education in close cooperation and continuous open dialogue. A high degree of flexibility is an essential element of the Bachelor and Master programmes.
