Treatment quality from the patients’ point of view
In the pilot phase (16 weeks in fall of 2007 and 2008) 127 patients were treated at the CEWIM who required general internist treatment. 66 from a total of 111 surveyed patients responded to the questionnaire. Almost 80% of patients felt that integration of students into the medical team had a positive effect. Specifically, communication with the medical team was rated as very good. The frequency of problems occurring in the doctor-patient relationship was rated to be significantly below other comparable statistics from national internist wards in four out of six aspects. Approximately 80% of patients rated care provided by medical students as partly positive or very positive.
