Health insurance
All students registering at a German university must provide proof of sufficient health insurance for the duration of their studies in Germany. This applies also to students coming to Germany for only one or two semesters.
Private or statutory health insurance?
In Germany you have the choice between private and statutory health insurance. Basically, up to the age of 30 (or up to your 14th subject-related semester) you must have statutory health insurance. Private health insurance is accepted in exceptional cases only. more

Social security agreement (EU and EEA nationals)
Germany has signed social security agreements with a number of countries (e.g. EU and EEA member countries): In this case your original health insurance policy of your home country will be accepted in Germany.
