Residents Registration in Witten

All international students must register with the Witten town clerk's office within two weeks after arrival. Students from non-EU countries coming to Germany with a visa must first apply for a residence permit.

Please go first to the Foreigners Authority (Ausländerbehörde), located in the Town Hall. Upon registration there and/or receipt of the student residence permit follows your registration at the Citizens’ Advice Bureau (Bürgerberatung). Both offices are located in the Witten Town Hall (address see below).

Please submit the following documents:

  • valid passport or identity card
  • UWH student identity card
  • Proof of sufficient financial resources to cover cost of living in Germany (approx. 600,- Euro per month); e.g. written statement by parents, proof of scholarships etc.
  • Proof of health insurance (valid in Germany; see also: Health insurance (Krankenversicherung)
  • 2 passport size photos (for non-EU nationals only)
  • 50 Euro administrative fee for student residence permit (for non-EU nationals only)
