ECTS

European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)

In the context of the ERASMUS programme the University Witten/Herdecke uses the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) like most other European universities.
ECTS is a standardized European system for recognition of academic achievements. A jointly agreed system of credit points ensures recognition of academic achievements abroad by the home university. Generally, 60 credit points correspond to a student’s workload per year, or 30 per semester. Each teaching event or class is assigned a certain number of ECTS points as a measure of the workload at the foreign university, and a basis for recognition of this workload by the home university.
