Language proficiency

Almost all institutions granting scholarships demand proof of language proficiency. Ensure well in advance that you meet requirements in this respect and improve your knowledge of the language in question.

Europe

If you plan studies abroad via a European programme, a standardized language certificate issued by a language teacher will suffice. For more information contact the International Office.

Outside Europe

If you plan to go to a university outside Europe, inquire well in advance whether your host university will require language tests, and which ones. Foreign universities frequently test applicants’ language proficiency via standardized tests. Universities in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand e.g. demand an attendance certificate for the "Test of English as a Foreign Language" (TOEFL) and proof of the points acquired in this test. If you plan a degree (MA, MBA, Ph.D. etc.) in the United States you must have passed either the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) or the GRE (Graduate Record Examination).
