Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes offers admission test: apply now!
“Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes” (German National Academic Foundation) is Germany’s largest scholarship donor for highly gifted students. Good test results are a chance for first-year students to qualify for selection procedures.
Germany’s largest scholarship organization for particularly gifted students once again invites direct applications. Gifted and dedicated students in their first and second semester may register for a test between January 16 and February 14, 2012. A good result automatically qualifies for selection procedures. Registration is online via the homepage of Studienstiftung, where you also find a demo version of test questions/assignments.
“Perhaps you are not even aware that you are highly gifted. Register for the test, you have nothing to lose!” so Prof. Dr. Matthias Kettner, liaison professor and holder of the Chair of Practical Philosophy at Witten/Herdecke University.
In 2010 the Studienstiftung introduced admission tests to complement the nomination system. After about 1200 test participants last year, the Studienstiftung hopes for even more applicants in 2012. This additional option has already proved to be successful, says the organization’s general secretary Dr. Gerhard Teufel: “The admission test reveals talents that might not have been detected with the old system. The test has various types of questions or assignments and helps applicants to assess their individual skills.” Apart from funds, scholarship recipients enjoy a number of additional benefits: support for study periods abroad, language courses, summer schools, individual counselling etc.
The Studienstiftung hopes in particular to motivate freshmen to register for the test, students who stand out through academic performance, wide range of interests, tolerance and social responsibility. Test questions do not require specific knowledge but address skills that are important for successful academic studies. The test is scheduled for March 24 and 31, 2012 in several test centres nationwide. Participants with top results will be invited to an assessment centre for June and July 2012. Approximately 500 places will be available.
