Music club at the UNIKAT - a resounding success
It is a tradition for participants of the course "Improvisation & Jazz" to meet for the music club at the end of the term, led by Michael Kiedaisch.
For the third time the UNIKAT club was again the ideal setting to present course results and individual performances. All participants and numerous listeners enjoyed a splendid jazz evening in a cosy and smoke-free club ambience.
Till late into the night, six different bands from trio to sextet offered musical gems to a large audience of not only students but also lecturers, e.g. Matthias Kettner, professor of philosophy. His combo played relaxed lounge jazz with classics such as “Night and Day” and the “summer samba”. Robin Gertz followed with “Strange Fruit”, ambitious and socially critical jazz. Atalanti Tsentemeidou, “Die Band” and the “Kevin Idahosas Band” offered cover songs from soul-jazz-pop-rock-funk-folk with a stylish background, including a singer/songwriter performance by Johannes Siegmund with impressive songs and texts of his own. Dr. Hensel's "Defillibrator" concluded the evening with an endless loop of four jammed chords and invited dancers to work up a good sweat.
