Prof. Christel Bienstein is new DBfK president
Unanimous vote for Witten nursing scientist at delegates' conference in Berlin.
Prof. Christel Bienstein, director of the School of Nursing Science at Witten/Herdecke University, is the new president of the German association of nursing professions (DBfK). The vote of the delegates' conference in Berlin was unanimous. The nursing scientist from Witten, renowned member of the national and international expert community for many years, feels much honoured to follow in the footsteps of Agnes Karll who founded the association. In her inaugural speech Prof. Bienstein voiced her intention to raise nursing professionals' awareness of, and confidence in, their high level of competence and relevance in health care.
Marita Mauritz, Prof. Margarete Reinhart, Andrea Kiefer and Sonja Hohmann as heads of the four regional associations are federal board members ex officio; four other newly elected board members are vice presidents Gertrud Stöcker and Stefan Werner, and Dr. h.c. Ramona Schumacher and Ali Celik.
The DBfK is the German association of nursing professionals, covering health care and nursing as weel as geriatric and paediatric care. The association represents Germany in the International Council of Nurses (ICN) and is a founding member of the German Nursing Council (DPR).
