UW/H economics students highly satisfied

Two surveys by trendence and Universum confirm positive feedback.

In comprehensive annual surveys the two consultancy firms ask final-year students at German universities about plans for their professional future. They reveal the image of potential employers among graduates and provide valuable feedback to the universities. Results for economics students at Witten/Herdecke University are as follows:

The trendence survey gives UW/H top marks in these categories: career service, supervision, cooperation with the business community, practice orientation, guidance, quality of lecturers, and scope/quality of student activities. Good marks also for international orientation of programs, and satifsaction with the transition to Bachelor/Master programs. Students see room for improvement with services such as library, IT, Registrar's Office and Examination Offices.

The overall evaluation by UW/H students is significantly better compared to the national average.

The Universum survey confirms that 73 % of interviewed UW/H students are highly satisfied with their university (another 16 % are satisfied). In comparison, an average of only 26 % of students at German universities are highly satisfied, and 51 are satisfied. Single survey categories underline the overall result.

Excellent or good marks for lecturers come from 94 % of students, courses on offer 89 %, UW/H reputation 77 %, contacts to the business community 91 %, quality of teaching 89 %, teacher-student ratio even 100 %, costs of living 92 %, and practice orientation of programs 95 %.

Prof. Dr. Dirk Sauerland, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Economics, underlines two aspects in particular: "These surveys confirm the CHE/ZEIT ranking, which gives top positions to our university. They also reveal a high degree of satisfaction with our new programs in Philosophy, Politics & Economics and in Family Business Management which started in October 2010."
