Business Report 2010/11

Witten/Herdecke University presents the business report for 2010/11, a colourful review of the past fiscal year. We look back, give thanks, and look ahead.

Looking back

at the end of 2011, we feel somewhat breathless, press the mental pause button, but all things considered are very glad.

Over the past two years, the university gathered speed again. Today UW/H is very much alive -  discussing, teaching, researching; the university opens up, invites, joins in and stimulates, with more students enrolled than ever before. Growing academic performance and output have by no means dampened our drive to research and explore.

Giving thanks

means to pay tribute - to the courageous and visionary pioneers of thirty years ago, but also to many friends, alumni and sponsors who supported us in recent years. UW/H would not be in demand without the many inquisitive and talented students determined to design and realize their higher education at and with our university. And last but not least the perseverance and personal commitment of our staff permits us to plan the future with confidence. Our thanks go to them all.

Looking ahead

we are concentrated and expectant. The challenges of the coming years in a globalized nation and continent are quite awesome. What we shall need apart from excellent know-how and competences are courage and confidence.

With courage but not arrogance, with confidence but without embellishment – this is how we at Witten/Herdecke University intend to do our bit to master future challenges. We want to provide educational contexts for future generations that permit social development in the best meaning of the word.
