Research profile of Witten/Herdecke University
Transdisciplinary research for the greater benefit of society
As a private university we accept the obligation to make research results available to the community, in return for funding which ensures our existence.
Real-life problems demand transdisciplinary research. We as a private university are proactive in this field. The social relevance of our research areas is just as important as the transparent and comprehensible communication of research findings.
Breaking new ground
The innovative spirit governing research at UW/H is derived from our mission statement. Researchers are challenged to break new ground. They pledge above average commitment to society, the environment, and scientific work. They are encouraged to change their perspectives on a systematic basis and to participate in open debate between disciplines.
UW/H finances numerous projects via third-party funding. Our researchers cooperate with renowned national and international partners. Our main objective is to enter new research areas and stimulate important developments.
