Between the 17th and 19th of September Witten is the place to be for internationally oriented people. The 6th edition of the PPE international conference will be running with the title: "Re-thinking the State: Democracy between Order and Chaos".

Fellow internationals and internationally oriented Peeps,

Perhaps some of you have travelled (or are about to travel) across the world to build your little study nest here in Witten. Others grew up right in the heart of the Ruhr-pot, but have spent some time abroad chasing experiences only travel can bring. Maybe there are even some, which haven't spread their wings yet, but are eagerly planning a great escape across the globe.

Whichever one you are, there is one feeling we share - to paraphrase Terry Pratchet: "Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colour".

If you happen to have recognised yourself in any of the previous passages and are after that new colour, give us a few seconds of your time to convince you to come to Witten ten days before the semester starts.

Between the 17th and 19th of September Witten is the place to be for internationally oriented people. The 6th edition of the PPE international conference will be running with the title: "Re-thinking the State: Democracy between Order and Chaos". The reasons to join this student-organised event are many: the interdisciplinary topic, the discussions, the people, the international environment, the opportunity to participate in a paper contest and win a prize and last but not least the Saturday evening party! For the first time, the conference will take place in a hybrid format which means that you can either join us digitally, or come to the University Witten/Herdecke campus. Not only will we offer you interesting workshops and discussions, but also the opportunity to exchange ideas throughout breakfast, lunch or dinner, all organised by our catering partners. While the full experience in presence is recommended to engage in the networking and exchange of ideas with fellow students, the digital participation will anyways enable you to participate to our exciting set of workshops.

Whether you are a prof, Erasmus student, or Witten veteran, it is of no matter. Anyone who finds the idea of the conference appealing is more than welcome to join. Our aim is to create an environment where open minded and critical people can come together to discuss current developments in our world which are of great importance. Some fun activities here and there are guaranteed to make the weekend an event for intellectual stimulus and overall good times.
