The Chair focuses on the neuropsychological, neurobiological and genetic foundations relevant to psychology in research and teaching at the School of Psychology and Psychotherapy, Witten/Herdecke University.
Research topics of the Chair include the neuropsychological, neurobiological and genetic fundamentals of higher cognitive functions, as well as their deviations in neurological and psychiatric patient groups. We use neuropsychological examination methods, neurofunctional imaging and genetic procedures, psychophysiological methods and eye movement measurement.
Our main focus is on clinical research. We therefore foster interdisciplinary networking between the Chair of Neurobiology and Genetics of Behavior and the Chair of Neurology, the Chair of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy and the Chairs and Professorships of the Center for Biomedical Education and Research (Zentrum für Biomedizinische Ausbildung und Forschung - ZBAF). This interdisciplinary cooperation in clinical research is at the core of the research focus on "Integrative and Personalized Health Care" at Witten/Herdecke University.
We integrate the practice modules and practical examinations of the Bachelor's and Master's programmes at the School of Psychology and Psychotherapy into interdisciplinary clinical research. Results are communicated and discussed in the courses.
