The School of Psychology and Psychotherapy offers two degree programmes: the Psychology (B.Sc.) programme and the consecutive Psychology with Focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (M.Sc.) programme.

The Bachelor's and Master's programmes impart a broad basic knowledge of psychology, which is deepened in the field of clinical psychology and psychotherapy. The degree programmes thus aim at students being interested in the fundamentals of psychology and in focusing on clinical theory, research and practice, and who strive to work as therapists.

Studies in psychology at Witten/Herdecke University range from methodology to the fundamentals of psychology and their application. The curriculum is very broad and offers various perspectives. The methodology imparted in the context of the programmes covers, for example, behavioral procedures and scientific methods, as well as psychodynamic, humanistic and systemic approaches or the humanistic roots of psychology.

The psychology degree programmes are characterized by modern forms of teaching, learning and examination, as well as by excellent integration of theory and practice in therapeutic and scientific activities. A limitation of cohorts to a maximum of 36 students ensures close and personal support and therefore an optimal educational setting.
