GKLSChair of Medical Theory, Integrative and Anthroposophic Medicine

The Gerhard Kienle Chair of Medical Theory, Integrative and Anthroposophic Medicine is funded by the Software AG Foundation in Darmstadt. The chair is based at the Herdecke Community Hospital, a well-known, modern, anthroposophically orientated acute hospital.

Our vision

Every time we decide something for ourselves that is beneficial to our health, we are also making a decision for a world in which we want to live. This is why our research centres on the question of how we can live together in a healthy way, conserve resources, promote our own awareness and thus have an appreciative influence on our own health, the health of our associates and the health of our planet.

We are therefore aware that we take responsibility in everything we do. Responsible, global health development plays an important role in the development of the world. We therefore focus on health-promoting models that support our self-regulation and utilise our ability to learn and change. We are committed to a healthcare system that places people at the centre as developing individuals in a social and supportive community and an environment that is sustainably (re)healing. We place our research work at the service of such positive change.
