Information on the bioinformatics infrastructure “de.NBI” - Network and services for research data management

The FDM Contact and Service Centre had an exchange with de.NBI, the German Network for Bioinformatics Infrastructure, which offers a variety of tools and services specifically developed for research data management (RDM) in the life sciences. More than 100 bioinformatics software tools are available here, which can also help researchers at UW/H to analyse, store and share their research data. About the development of the infrastructure: About us | de.NBI e.V.
The de.NBI Cloud is a powerful infrastructure for computing and storage resources that enables integrative data analyses. It is particularly useful for large data sets in biomedicine and systems biology. de.NBI regularly organises workshops, summer schools and online courses on topics such as data standardisation, tool application and cloud usage.
Examples of use cases in medical research projects can be found here:

Health research in particular generates huge amounts of data. Without RDM, there is a risk of data loss, lack of reproducibility and inefficient utilisation. de.NBI helps to overcome these challenges. Further information can be found on the de.NBI website: de.NBI - German Network for Bioinformatics Infrastructure
de.NBI e. V. is currently contributing its expertise in the field of bioinformatics services, training and cloud computing to several NFDI consortia. One example is the NFDI4Microbiota consortium, which is the central hub for supporting the microbiological community in Germany and provides access to data, analysis services, data/metadata standards and training. The de.NBI e.V. supports this project with its expertise in distributed data management and training.
At usegalaxy.eu- part of the de.NBI cloud - scientists can compile workflows as required. These can also be used free of charge in clinical studies. Registration is required.
In general, the de.NBI & ELIXIR-DE services are free of charge and all are listed here: https://www.denbi.de/services. In addition to the services, the training courses are also usually free of charge: https://www.denbi.de/training. For users with a PI from Germany, the cloud (https://cloud.denbi.de/get-started/) is free of charge.
