Events and public lectures

Our university is an open place of exchange on important issues of the present and the shaping of our future. We therefore cordially invite all interested parties to take part in our public lecture series and events with subsequent discussions. Because in order to find new answers to the challenges facing our lives, our region and society, we need to enter into a dialogue between science and civil society. Everyone is welcome when our guests from all over the world and from the most diverse fields give us food for thought, open up unexpected perspectives and reveal connections. Let's learn and discuss together to inspire each other!

Citizens' university

The Citizens' University of Witten/Herdecke University and the adult education centre Witten | Wetter | Herdecke addresses socially relevant topics. By combining scientific findings and social debates, the Citizens' university is an interesting format for anyone who wants to help shape social change and stay up to date.

After the scientific input, there is time for questions and discussion in the plenary session.

CULTURE TIME

With KULTURZEIT, we want to strengthen university encounters. On nine Thursdays in the semester from 12:00 to 13:15, we invite staff, students, friends, supporters and interested parties to take a free break from their everyday appointments.

The diverse programme includes musical and literary events as well as keynote speeches and discussions on current topics.

Lecture series

Human-animal relationship

The Chair of Didactics and Educational Research in Health Science is organising the online lecture series "Human-Animal Relationship #govegan" at Witten/Herdecke University in the winter semester 2024/25. It offers a wide-ranging platform for a comprehensive discussion and debate on the diverse aspects of animal welfare and environmental awareness.

The lecture series is part of the Studium fundamentale so that students from all degree programmes can take part. At the same time, the series of events is open to all interested parties throughout Germany.
