25 November 2025: RMI Day of Management "Confrontation instead of cooperation in business and society?"

No one can master the major challenges of our time alone. Nevertheless, from global politics to everyday dealings in business and society, the style seems to be becoming more confrontational in many cases. Protecting one's own interests threatens to supersede co-operation to achieve common goals. Those who bear responsibility and want to fulfil it are faced with the challenge of steering conflicts and tensions into constructive channels.

The afternoon keynote speech by Prof Dr Daniela Schwarzer, Director of the Bertelsmann Foundation, focused on placing various aspects of this issue in a broader picture of political and economic developments. In her influential books, most recently "Krisenzeit" and "Final Call", the political scientist consistently calls for cohesion in Germany and Europe, especially in the face of external pressure.

During the "Open RMI Circles" in the morning, the more than 70 participants were able to contribute their own topics and discuss them interactively with the researchers from the RMI team, who provided further impetus from the perspective of management and organisational research on cooperation.

The RMI Day of Management 2025 thus continues the tradition of previous symposia and promotes dialogue between science and business on important topics that affect managers, researchers, students and society as a whole.
