Senate

Duties and responsibilities:
The senate is the decision-making university body in charge of academic development. Specifically, the senate is involved in the appointment of executive board and supervisory board members, comments on university development and business plans, decides on university constitution and amendments, constitutional structure, regulations including regulations on fees, and on appointment of professors, discusses executive board reports and conveys academic honors.

Members:
Deans of the faculties by authority of their position, three elected members from each faculty (professors, staff, students), one elected non-academic staff member not belonging to a faculty, and one student representative to be elected by the student plenary meeting duly convened by the student council. For the first term in office (2010 – 2013) the Faculty of Health delegates two additional elected representatives. Senate members without voting rights are the executive directors and one member of the works council. At the beginning of each term in office the senate elects one member to the chair and one as vice chairperson. Sessions are open to the university public, with the exception of human resource and financial issues. The constituent meeting of the newly elected senate was on November 16, 2010.
