    The School of Psychology and Psychotherapy, Faculty of Health, was founded in 2013. It offers two degree programmes: the Psychology (B.Sc.) Bachelor's programme and the Psychology with Focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (M.Sc.) Master's programme.

    Modern forms of teaching, learning and examination as well as excellent integration of theory and practice in therapeutic and scientific activities provide an optimal educational setting, as do small seminar groups with up to 36 students per cohort.

    Degree seeking students & ERASMUS students

    The School of Psychology and Psychotherapy welcomes both full-time degree seeking students and those who want to spend one or two semesters in Witten as part of their ERASMUS exchange programme. The degree programme requires fluent German skills (CEFR: C1).

    In addition to clinical psychology, neuroscience and the fundamentals of human experience and behavior are further cornerstones of the Chair’s research. Studies in the fields of philosophy of science and philosophical foundations complement this research profile.

    People in a crisis, suffering from mental problems, psychosomatic symptoms, interpersonal difficulties or the like, turn to our Center for Mental Health and Psychotherapy (Zentrum für Psychische Gesundheit und Psychotherapie – ZPP). More than ten therapists work in an academic setting to ensure optimal treatment in the case of mental stress and disorders. Before starting a treatment, they will determine whether or not psychotherapy may help the patient.
