    Chair of Personality Psychology and Diagnostics

    The Chair focuses on research and teaching in the fields of psychological diagnostics, personality psychology and differential psychology.

    Our teaching involves the critical analysis of issues concerning personality psychology and psychological diagnostics. While interactive lectures, practical exercises and seminars as well as case studies convey theoretical learning contents, students translate these contents into practice in order to be able to apply them appropriately in their future professional career.

    In the context of the Psychology Bachelor´s degree programme, the Chair of Personality Psychology and Diagnostics offers the following compulsory courses:

    • Personality Psychology (lecture / third and fourth semester)
    • Fundamentals of Psychological Diagnostics (lecture / fourth semester)
    • Measurement and Psychometrics (seminar / fourth semester)
    • Test Theory and Test Design (seminar / sixth semester)
    • Diagnostics (practical exercise / sixth semester)

    The current research topics of the chair include:

    • Multiple sclerosis and impairment of cognitive functions
    • Performance and capacities of working memory
    • Intelligence
    • Executive functions under the influence of various variables
    • Methods of psychological assessment in family law proceedings
    • Attachment in adulthood
    • Jealousy in romantic relationships
    • Jealousy in social networks

    We apply the following methodology:

    • Neuropsychological test methods
    • Electroencephalography (EEG)
    • Questionnaires
    • Questionnaire development and validation

    In addition, we supervise psychology bachelor's and master's theses relating to our main research areas and beyond. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested.
