In Cooperation with Thomas Hübl, PhD, Academy of Inner Science
Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in COLLECTIVE TRAUMA INTEGRATION PROCESS (CTIP)
What this course is about and who it is aimed at
A traumatic event such as a terrorist attack, conflict, war, genocide, or massacre is always experienced and shared by a group of people. Collective trauma is a psychological and sociological term that describes the shared experience of and response to traumatic events. The recognition, curing, and ultimately integration of collective trauma are essential and critical steps for communities and nations to re-build in the aftermath of war and other mass atrocities. Applying a trauma-informed approach to peacebuilding efforts therefore becomes a fundamental step in restoration, without which much of the past traumas remain unresolved, ultimately leading to new and repetitive cycles of crises.
Collective trauma is transmitted across generations and experienced collectively within a particular cultural context. If we focus on trauma at the community/societal level: what are the practical implications for mental health interventions? What is being done effectively and what needs to change? How can we facilitate collective curing? In answering these questions, Thomas Hübl PhD, Academy of Inner Science and Pocket Project conceptualized the “Collective Trauma Integration Process (CTIP)”.
The Certificate of Advanced Studies in Collective Trauma Integration Process (CAS-CTIP) has emerged from an extended period of workshops, trainings and scientific evaluations that collectively informed the development of the present curriculum. In the CAS-CTIP program, you can learn the following skills:
- What are collective, transgenerational, and historical traumas?
- How does the collective trauma integration process (CTIP) work?
- How can you facilitate CTIP?
- How can you organize and implement a CTIP workshop or training?

General information
The CAS-CTIP can be completed through earning educational credits as part of an academic program at Witten/Herdecke University in Germany. The enrolled students such as facilitators, psychotherapists, psychologists, medical professionals, mediators and others can complete the required modules on their own to deepen their existing knowledge and understanding of collective trauma. Because of the complexities and experiential nature of a topic such as collective, historical, transgenerational and cultural trauma, students are required to complete the following modules 1-4 that are the foundation of this CAS degree program:
Module 1: Personal Development and Trauma Integration
Module 2: Transpersonal Studies
Module 1 & 2 run as “Timeless Wisdom Training” organized by STP & Inner Science – 5 semester for 15 ECTS credits
Module 3: Collective Trauma Facilitator Training
Module 4: CTFT Practice Phase
2 semester for 5 ECTS credits
Module 5 (option): Trauma-informed Leadership & Societal Resilience
2 semesters for 5 ECTS credits
Module 6 (option): Global Social Witnessing Facilitation Training
2 semester for 5 ECTS credits
Module 7 (option): Introduction to Traumatology
