Why is it so difficult to improve the health of doctors?
A qualitative interview study with senior physicians on attitudes towards their own health
Dipl. psych. Heike Schulte (doctoral student), in cooperation with Prof. Dr Gabriele Lutz (Professorship of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy)
Doctoral project
Current research increasingly describes the health of doctors as being at risk. Interventions to improve the health of doctors show inconsistent results. As part of an interview study, senior doctors were asked about their attitudes towards their own health in order to use grounded theory to analyse whether and how these affect the difficulty of improving doctors' health. Initial results of the study were published in 2024.
