Good medicine – in practice too

Witten/Herdecke University is particularly committed to healthcare. However, medicine and psychotherapy are not limited to teaching and research – we also attach great importance to applying our knowledge and the latest findings in practice.

General practice, dentistry and psychotherapy

Always close to the people

At our outpatient clinics, we offer patients modern, comprehensive general medical, dental and psychotherapeutic care in line with the latest scientific evidence. Qualified doctors and therapists, supported by our students, address a range of medical and psychotherapeutic concerns. The focus is always on the individual and their specific needs. The aim is not only to alleviate symptoms, but also to identify and address the root causes of ailments in order to promote long-term wellbeing.

Our outpatient clinics are open to people with both statutory and private health insurance for outpatient care in the event of illness or emergencies.

Practical experience for students in the health sector

Students at the Faculty of Health have the opportunity to build on their theoretical knowledge and skills through practical experience in our outpatient clinics. Students of dentistry, for example, begin working in the dental clinic from their first semester onwards. Students of medicine and psychology gain insights into practical work at various stages of their studies – including at the University Outpatient Clinic and the ZPP – and are involved in the treatment of patients.
