Working Group on Security Research and Security Practice

The Working Group on Security Research and Security Practice at Witten/Herdecke University is an interdisciplinary network of researchers and experts working in the fields of Germany’s internal and external security.

The working group’s primary aim is to investigate the various dimensions of current security and insecurity situations arising from the dynamic interplay between individuals, society and the work of state, non-state and society-wide security organisations. The study of such security dynamics requires multi-perspective approaches drawing on both academic research and practical experience.

The UW/H Working Group on Security Research and Security Practice sees itself as a forum for

• the exchange of information on current security and insecurity situations,
• the discussion, development and evaluation of various approaches to solving complex security problems,
• the establishment and promotion of (project-based) collaborations,
• raising awareness and providing advice to public authorities, local authorities and businesses on security matters, and
• organising and participating in specialist conferences and trade fairs.
