Department of Management and EntrepreneurshipWe encourage an entrepreneurial mindset

Help shape our society for the long term

The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship (MUT) aims to enable students to understand and actively shape decision-making, start-up and change processes in the business world. The programme places people at the centre, with a focus on the behaviour of individuals, groups and organisations. Our students are prepared to take on leadership roles in their own or existing companies and learn how they can help shape our society in a sustainable way.

Research at the MUT Department

The department’s research focuses on gaining a better understanding of start-up and change processes within organisations, particularly family businesses, from various perspectives. We analyse different levels – from large economic systems right down to individual people. In doing so, we draw on various theoretical approaches, ranging from institutional theory to behavioural sciences, and examine different societal contexts such as sustainability and digitalisation.

The research priorities are aligned with the specialist areas of the professorships, chairs and institutes and can be divided into three areas: • Leadership and responsibility • Innovation and start-ups • Organisation and markets

We place particular emphasis on complex issues that bridge different disciplines and topics. As businesses and their environments are constantly changing, dynamism, change and transformation are at the heart of our research.
