The ZNU is an applied research institute within the Faculty of Management, Economics and Society at Witten/Herdecke University. We aim to impart knowledge and make it applicable.

The Institute for Integrative Healthcare and Health Promotion (IGVF) is dedicated to the development of holistic and integrative approaches to medical care through research, teaching and practice.

The Institute for Integrative Medicine (IfIM) aims to play an active role in shaping the development of modern integrative medicine in research, teaching and clinical care.

The Institute for Medical Law is the only one of its kind in Germany to date to be based within a Faculty of Health. This enables it to better reconcile the legal frameworks relevant to the healthcare sector across the boundaries of legal disciplines such as criminal, civil and social law.

The Centre for Biomedical Education and Research (ZBAF) brings together all the theoretical and basic science institutes and research groups within the Faculty of Health that focus on biomedical topics and basic biological research.

The Centre for Clinical Trials at Witten/Herdecke University (ZKS-UW/H) supports the university’s own institutes, clinics and departments in conducting clinical trials.

The Working Group on Security Research and Security Practice at UW/H is an interdisciplinary network of academics and experts working in the fields of Germany’s internal and external security.

CeSER is a collaborative network between Ruhr University Bochum and Witten/Herdecke University, which brings together the expertise of medical specialists, clinics and institutes. Together, they are working to improve care for people with rare diseases.

The UW/H is part of the interdisciplinary DZNE network of excellence. At the Witten site, the focus is on nursing and healthcare research into neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia. Our researchers evaluate existing care strategies and develop new ones to improve the quality of life for those affected and to provide support for their families.

The Faculty of Management, Economics and Society and the Faculty of Health share the common aim of further developing the German healthcare system and addressing social and health policy challenges in a solution-oriented and practice-oriented manner.

In order to further develop health services research in Germany and ensure high-quality healthcare, there is a need for international dialogue and an interdisciplinary exchange of methodologies. This is where the work of the IZVF comes in.

In order to provide academic support for the socio-ecological transformation of the economy, the state and society, and to drive this forward through concrete recommendations, Witten/Herdecke University has established the International Centre for Sustainable and Just Transformation [tra:ce].

The ZDITG is guided by five principles – user-centredness, data-driven approaches, evidence-based practice, cost-effectiveness and a focus on expertise – in digital healthcare and the healthcare sector.
