Former students award top marks for their studies in Witten

• Satisfaction with studying at Witten/Herdecke University remains – as in previous years – at a very high level.More than 80 per cent of graduates rate their degree programme as ‘very good’ or ‘good’. In the Management (B. Sc.) and Management (M.Sc.) degree programmes, satisfaction is as high as 100 per cent. The degree programmes in Medicine, Pychologie (M. Sc.) and Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine (state examination) also achieve particularly high satisfaction ratings.
• Graduates of Witten/Herdecke University feel exceptionally well prepared for the start of their careers. In particular, the integration of theory and practice (grade 1.8), study projects (grade 2.0) and preparation for the profession (grade 2.2) receive significantly higher ratings than in the comparison group of other universities.
• Even whilst studying in Witten, there are numerous opportunities to establish contacts with potential employers – for example, through work placements, practical projects, guest lectures or the services offered by the Career Services. The success of this approach is evident when graduates enter the job market: 76 per cent of UW/H graduates find a job within three months. More than half of all graduates need fewer than five applications to do so.
• Studying at Witten/Herdecke University also pays off financially. Just two years after graduation, more than 50 per cent of graduates earn a gross monthly income of at least 5,000 euros. This puts Witten/Herdecke University 11 per cent above the average for comparable universities.

Detailed results

• 86% of graduates from Witten/Herdecke University give their degree programme grades of very good and good. The Management (B. Sc.), PPÖ - Philosophy, Politics and Economics (B. A.) and Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine (state examination) degree programmes all achieved particularly high satisfaction ratings of 100%.
• The degree programme at Witten offers excellent preparation for future appointments. UW/H graduates award above-average grades for the combination of theory and practice (grade 1.9), opportunities to acquire key competences (grade 2.0) and the topicality of the teaching content in relation to practical requirements (grade 2.0).
• UW/H lecturers are known for their extraordinary commitment to teaching and supervision and for their good relationships with students. 84% of UW/H graduates confirm this by awarding grades of "very good" and "good" for academic counselling and supervision. In the category of contact with lecturers, as many as 92% of former students awarded top marks.
• Witten graduates are in high demand on the labour market. Students can make valuable contacts in the UW/H practice network during their studies through internships, practical projects and numerous Career Services programmes. The UW/H concept is a complete success: 100% of those actively looking for a job found one in less than 12 months - more than 80% even in less than six months. Career entry was particularly fast in the Management degree programme: here, the transition to the first job took less than three months across the board.
• Studying in Witten pays off in monetary terms: Over 70% of those surveyed have a monthly income of at least 4,000 euros two years after graduating.

Results in detail

• 80% of graduates from Witten/Herdecke University rate their degree programme in retrospect with the grades very good and good. Satisfaction levels are particularly high in the Medicine model degree programme (92%) and in the Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine and Psychology (M. Sc.) degree programmes (91%).
  Compared to other universities, UW/H performs particularly well in the areas of linking theory and practice, the topicality of the content taught, preparation for appointments and the didactic quality of teaching in the Department of Business and Society.
• 83% of respondents rated the organisation of studies as very good and good. For graduates of the Management (B. Sc.), General Management (M. A.) and Strategy & Organization (M. Sc.) degree programmes, the assessment is even more positive: Here, 100% award top grades for the organisation of studies.
• There is a special culture of cooperation at the UW/H, in which students and lecturers meet as equals. 90% of graduates rate contact with lecturers as good to very good in retrospect. Compared to other universities, UW/H performs significantly better in terms of subject-specific and individual support and counselling in particular - an above-average number of very good ratings are given here by graduates in the Business and Society study area.
• Studying at Witten/Herdecke University is a worthwhile investment in the future. The average monthly income of UW/H graduates is 5,000 euros. By comparison, the income of respondents from other universities is around 4,500 euros.
• Students from Witten can use UW/H's broad practical network during their studies to gain valuable experience and contacts for their career entry and their own career path - with great success: 98% of all former students found a job within 12 months of graduating. For 74% of those surveyed, the job search took less than 3 months.

• In retrospect, almost 80% of Witten/Herdecke University graduates surveyed gave their degree programme grades of very good and good. Satisfaction rates are particularly high in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Psychology at 92%. Graduates of the Management (B. Sc.), General Management (M. A.) and Strategy & Organization (M. Sc.) degree programmes are also very satisfied (87%) with their studies.
• Of those surveyed, 83% rate the organisation of their studies with the grades very good and good. Among graduates and alumni of the Management degree programmes, 100% even awarded top grades for the organisation of their studies.
• Witten students acquire crucial skills for the professional world, including solution-orientated and strategic thinking, self-reflection, critical thinking and the ability to apply knowledge from their studies flexibly in practice. Two years after graduation, the vast majority of former students confirm this. Among graduates of degree programmes in the field of Business & Society - such as PPÖ - Philosophy, Politics and Economics (B. A.) or PPE - Philosophy, Politics and Economics (M. A.) - the approval rate is almost 100%.
• 99% of all former students found a job within 18 months of graduating. For 76 % of those surveyed, the job search took less than 3 months.

• 90% of the graduates surveyed are satisfied with their degree programme in retrospect and would choose the same degree programme again. In the Psychology Bachelor's and Psychology Master's programmes, the figure is as high as 95%.
• The vast majority of graduates and graduates rated the contact with fellow students and lecturers as very good.
• The professional and didactic quality of teaching impressed the majority of respondents. In the group of former students of the Bachelor's degree programme PPÖ - Philosophy, Politics and Economics , the proportion was as high as 90%.

The preparation for the appointment and the link between theory and practice convinced 84% of the graduates surveyed.

• Looking back, 83% of graduates are satisfied with their degree programme at Witten/Herdecke University.
• 89% of former students would choose the same degree programme again. Among graduates of the Bachelor's degree programme PPÖ - Philosophy, Politics and Economics, the figure is as high as 90%.
• Contact with fellow students and lecturers is described as very good.
• The subject-related and didactic quality of teaching impressed the majority of respondents. Among graduates of the Management (B. Sc.) degree programme, 88% rated the quality of teaching as good.
• 84% of the graduates surveyed were very satisfied with the preparation for their appointment and the link between theory and practice.

• Looking back, 84% of graduates are satisfied with their degree programme.
• More than three quarters of those surveyed would choose the same degree programme again. As many as 95% of alumni of the Modellstudiengang Medizin (StEx) said the same.
• Contact with fellow students and lecturers is rated as very good overall.
• The professional and didactic quality of teaching impressed the majority of respondents - for example 90% of graduates of the Bachelor's degree programme PPÖ - Philosophie, Politik und Ökonomik (B. A.).
