Chair of Social Philosophy & Ethics in Healthcare

A focus on issues relating to ethics, politics and the healthcare sector

The department’s research and teaching focus primarily on issues relating to ethics, politics and the health care system. 

It adopts a non-exclusive perspective. One example of this is the treatment of vulnerability, which establishes a link to healthcare. 

In contrast to traditional social philosophies, the focus here is not only on people’s thinking, reasoning and deliberation, but also on their physical embeddedness in the lived world and society. 

Topics include, amongst others:

  • the ethical status of human beings and individuals,
  • social processes within institutions, and
  • the relationship between ethics, politics, economics and history.
