MAMA: Microbiome changes due to antibiotic prophylaxis in mothers at birth
(Microbial changes due to antibiotic prophylaxis in mothers at birth)
Exploratory, open-label, single-centre, two-arm, non-interventional observational study on induced dysbiosis following prophylactic administration of cefuroxime. Investigation of qualitative and quantitative changes in the gut microbiome of women giving birth following a single, prophylactic dose of cefuroxime during caesarean section. The plan is to enrol a total of 50 participants at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the City of Cologne Hospitals (25 in the caesarean section group and 25 with vaginal delivery in the control group).
