At the Chair, we are dedicated to research and teaching in the field of finance. Our main areas of focus include the analysis and theory of money, banks and financial markets, as well as changes in the structures of financial systems. We pay particular attention to the impact of the digitalisation of the economy and society. In this context, we focus specifically on the economic structures of blockchain technology.

Research
The Chair is active in several innovative areas of research that will have a significant impact on the future of the financial world. A key area of research is the transformation of financial systems, with a particular focus on blockchain technology. This revolutionary technology has the potential to fundamentally transform the financial landscape, the economy and society. Another key research specialisation is sustainable finance, particularly sustainable financing strategies and their impact on the environment and society. We also analyse the dynamics of property markets in relation to the financial system in order to gain a deeper understanding of how they function and develop.
Another unique area of research within our department is the financial-economic analysis of quality wine production in Germany. Here, we examine the economic aspects and complementarities of wine production and marketing in one of the world’s most renowned wine-growing regions.
Current research projects
- Scalability and Security of Blockchain Systems
- Economic implications of decentralised finance (DeFi) and central bank digital currencies (CBDC)
