Studying privately at the model university
Future-orientated education with a job guarantee
What makes the UW/H so special?
Studying at UW/H is undoubtedly a promising investment - not only in knowledge, but also in your own future. Witten/Herdecke University is much more than just an academic training centre - it is considered a pioneer in the German higher education landscape. As a model university, it pursues a holistic educational approach based on interdisciplinarity, social responsibility and individual personal development.

1. innovative teaching and learning concepts
Witten/Herdecke University favours modern, innovative teaching methods. Students are not only seen as learners, but as active co-creators of their educational path. Seminars are often interactive and practice-orientated, with an open culture of discussion that encourages critical thinking. Theory and practice are closely interlinked so that students have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge directly to practical projects.

2. interdisciplinarity and networking
At Witten, thinking outside the box is encouraged. We attach great importance to interdisciplinary collaboration in order to offer students a holistic perspective. Whether in the field of health, business or society - the boundaries between disciplines become blurred, enabling creative and sustainable solutions to the challenges of our time.

3. individual support and personal development
Individual support is a central element of the degree programme. Small study groups and close contact with lecturers create a personalised learning atmosphere. In addition, the development of soft skills such as communication skills, teamwork and self-reflection is encouraged. The university supports its students in growing not only professionally but also personally.

4. social responsibility and sustainability
Witten/Herdecke University sees itself as a "university for the common good". Social responsibility and ethical behaviour are firmly anchored in the curriculum. Our students learn how they can make a positive contribution to society through their actions and knowledge. Sustainability plays a central role in this: we endeavour to develop sustainable solutions in research and teaching that meet the ecological, social and economic challenges of our time. We also actively implement this on our campus.

5. freedom in financing your studies
Another special feature is the innovative concept of student financing. The so-called Income Share Agreement (ISA) enables students to begin their studies without having to make any upfront financial contributions. They only pay back a percentage of their salary once they have completed their studies and are earning money themselves. This gives everyone the opportunity to study at the UW/H regardless of their own financial situation. By the way: Fifty per cent of our graduates receive a contract offer for their dream job after just one application.
