2nd MBMRC Guest Lecture

Several studies show that mindfulness programmes can reduce doctors' stress and improve their well-being. However, there is great heterogeneity in these programmes and little data on long-term effectiveness. Dr Dossett, a general internist at the University of California who specialises in integrative medicine, will present data from three different studies of the eight-part Stress Management and Resilience Training (SMART) programme conducted at two different academic medical centres at three different points in time - before the COVID 19 pandemic, at the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic and several years after the pandemic.
Results include a significant reduction in perceived stress and burnout and an improvement in well-being up to six months after completion of the programme.
Finally, the guest speaker will also discuss some of the challenges associated with conducting this type of research.
Participation is possible both in person and online.
