BioVal - Biodiversity Valuing & Valuation
How can the negative impact of food production and consumption on biodiversity be reduced?
Project overview
The aim of BioVal is to research how the negative effects of food production and consumption on biodiversity can be reduced and how they can have a positive impact instead. BioVal is developing solutions for this in a transdisciplinary approach.
Together with companies, we are investigating how they can contribute to the promotion of biodiversity along product life cycles and how they can anchor this in their management and communicate it. Measures are developed and trialled for this purpose.
The main results of BioVal are recommendations for increasing biodiversity along food product life cycles as well as solutions for companies to integrate biodiversity into management systems and tools and into business-to-business and business-to-consumer communication that have been tried and tested in real-life laboratories.
In addition, the further development of the impact assessment method for terrestrial biodiversity in the life cycle assessment and the development of a new method for the impact assessment of marine biodiversity will provide input into the international discussion on methods.
