BLIKK 3-Media

Children and young people using electronic media

Project description

In 2016 and 2017, the BLIKK media studies (coping, learning behaviour, intelligence, competence, communication) were conducted across Germany for the first time to investigate the use of digital media in families and the effects on children. Following on from the results of BLIKK 1 and 2, the aim of the BLIKK 3 study is to investigate the media health of young children in Germany once again. This is particularly relevant in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, the questionnaire offers parents an opportunity for reflection.

BLIKK 3 will be initiated as a longitudinal study of children born in 2022. Paper/pencil survey points will take place at U5, U7 and U8. Families who do not wish to participate will be asked to complete a short questionnaire for non-participation analyses. In addition to the questionnaires, a short developmental diagnostic examination on the objective developmental status of the participating children is carried out by the paediatricians as part of the U8.
