BÜRGERUNI: “Paula Modersohn-Becker: Painting with a Mind of Its Own – A Feminist Breakthrough into Modernism”

On the occasion of her 150th birthday, Paula Modersohn-Becker is a widely celebrated painter. Yet during her lifetime, her path was marked by social opposition. The lecture by Prof. Dr Renate Buschmann, Academic Director of WittenLab. Zukunftslabor Studium fundamentale and holder of the Chair of Digital Arts and Cultural Mediation at UW/H, traces the reception of the painter, who died aged 31, and explores how her uncompromising body of work has found its rightful place in art history.
