Nadine Abanador-Kamper

Prof. Dr Abanador-Kamper holds the Chair of Cardiology, specialising in ‘Cardiac Imaging’, and is Head of Department at the Heart Centre – Helios University Hospital Wuppertal. The rapidly evolving field of cardiac imaging plays a central role in modern cardiology. In her role as professor, Prof. Dr Abanador-Kamper is dedicated to long-term research into multimodal imaging of cardiac diseases. Particular emphasis is placed on an interdisciplinary approach to optimising patient care, as well as on promoting academic teaching and clinical education. Her work at the Heart Centre Wuppertal/Witten/Herdecke University thus combines clinical practice, science and teaching at the highest level.

Clinical research:

• Cardiac imaging in acute cardiac conditions, e.g. Takotsubo syndrome, acute myocardial infarction, myocarditis, and vascular diseases
• Gender-specific differences with a focus on cardiology, e.g. in the context of acute heart conditions, myocardial infarction with normal coronary blood flow,
• Cardiac involvement in inflammatory diseases, e.g. post-COVID syndrome
• Risk stratification of non-ischaemic cardiomyopathies
• Interfaces between cardiac imaging and artificial intelligence

Prof. Dr Abanador-Kamper coordinates teaching at the Chair of Cardiology. The teaching programme includes the practical block at Helios University Hospital Wuppertal, lectures for final-year medical students, as well as clinical seminars, colloquia and continuing professional development courses as part of an interdisciplinary exchange.
