Open Science Prize of the School of Psychology and Psychotherapy
To recognise outstanding scientific contributions that demonstrate exemplary application of Open Science practices.
The School of Psychology and Psychotherapy annually awards the Open Science Prize in recognition of outstanding scientific contributions that demonstrate exemplary application of open science practices.
This prize honours a published research paper that stands out in particular for its transparency and reproducibility and thus makes a significant contribution to scientific integrity at Witten/Herdecke University and beyond.
This is a competitive prize that is only awarded once a year for an outstanding scientific publication. The prize money is 300 euros.
The next deadline for submissions is 1 November 2026.

Criteria for the application
Publication status: Scientific articles that have been accepted for publication can be submitted. Acceptance must not have been more than two years ago at the time of application.
Authorship: Only first authors can apply (even in the case of shared first authorship).
Affiliation: You must have been affiliated with the UW/H Department of Psychology at the time when you mainly produced this publication. Professors are excluded from the application. Students with relevant publications are explicitly invited to apply.
● Multiple submission: A new application with the same publication in the following year is possible as long as the two-year deadline is met.
Application documents
The central basis for the application is the documentation of the applied Open Science practices using the RESQUE (Research Quality Evaluation) Collector Tool. This web-based form enables a structured and comprehensible presentation of the quality of your research work with regard to transparency, reproducibility and freedom from errors.

The results document exported from the tool serves as the centrepiece of your application. It replaces an informal cover letter.
Submission process
To apply for the award, please send the following documents to open.science@uni-wh.de:
1. the completed RESQUE form (in JSON format).
2. the paper accepted for publication (as PDF).
3. proof of acceptance of the paper, if not yet published (e.g. confirmation e-mail from the publisher or editor).
4. your full postal address in case of an award.
