Digitalisation that serves society
Making dealings with public authorities simpler, more transparent and digitally accessible – that is publicplan’s mission. As a leading provider of open-source solutions for the public sector, the Düsseldorf-based company is shaping a public administration that puts citizens, businesses and authorities at the centre. Instead of complex software structures, publicplan relies on open, customisable systems that promote collaboration and ensure long-term independence.
Together with cosinex GmbH (also a spin-off from the university), UW/H graduate Dr Christian Knebel founded publicplan in 2010. Today, experts from the fields of IT, administration and communication are working to simplify administrative processes and strengthen digital sovereignty. This includes, amongst other things, technical solutions for online dealings with public authorities, digital working within the public sector and the modernisation of registers.
publicplan supports public authorities at all levels – from conception and development right through to hosting, training and support. All solutions are based on open-source software: freely accessible, jointly developable and in line with the ‘Public Money, Public Code’ principle. This ensures that publicly funded software benefits everyone and that a digital commons is created in the long term.
