UW/H cooperates with the state initiative fdm.nrw and is a member of the communications organisation fdm.nrw
With its participation, Witten/Herdecke University is intensifying its commitment to sustainable and future-orientated research data management (RDM).

Since November 2024, the Service and Contact Centre for Research Data Management (FDM) at Witten/Herdecke University (UW/H) has been a cooperation partner of the State Initiative for Research Data Management - fdm.nrw.
This initiative, which is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, is based at the University of Duisburg-Essen and aims to strengthen state-wide cooperation in the field of research data management.
Together with the Digital University NRW (DH.NRW), the state is promoting the expansion of state-wide basic IT services and the development of RDM skills for researchers.
The Digital University NRW is a cooperation between 41 universities - including Witten/Herdecke University - and the Ministry of Culture and Science of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is dedicated to the digital transformation of universities and is establishing a coordinated service infrastructure for this purpose.
The state initiative fdm.nrw is the central coordination centre for bundling and strategically developing RDM activities within DH.NRW. The aim of fdm.nrw's work is to interlink the universities in NRW with the developments of the National Research Data Infrastructure.
An important component of this cooperation is the communication network fdm.nrw, of which the UW/H recently became a member. This network serves the structured exchange between the state initiative and the member universities and thus strengthens the strategic further development of RDM in NRW.
A visible sign of networking is the annual Research Data Day in NRW, which takes place in autumn and is organised by fdm.nrw in cooperation with universities and university associations. The UW/H is one of the regular participants.
