Witten/Herdecke University has been included in the nationwide "Women Professors 2030" program
The federal and state funding program supports universities in appointing more women to professorial positions and in strengthening gender equality at the structural level.
Witten/Herdecke University (UW/H) has impressed in the third and final selection round of the Female Professors Programme 2030.
An independent review panel selected 44 universities nationwide whose gender equality concepts are particularly suitable for advancing parity in science. The UW/H is the only private university among them.
Inclusion in the programme means that the UW/H can apply for funding for the initial appointment of up to three female academics to permanent professorships. "Inclusion in the Women Professors Programme 2030 is a great success for us and shows that our gender equality concept is convincing," says Dr Dirk Jakobs, Vice President for Organisational Development and Diversity Management at the UW/H. "The programme gives us the opportunity to specifically recruit excellent female academics for professorships, improve career conditions and further strengthen gender equality in our structures."
Further information: The programme for female professors has been the central instrument of the federal and state governments for promoting gender equality at universities since 2008. A total of 320 million euros is available over eight years for the current programme phase.
