Witten in Transition

A bicycle is leaning against a lamppost. Green spaces can be seen in the background.

‘Witten im Wandel’ brings together initiatives, committed individuals, researchers, local authorities and businesses from Witten, offering an opportunity to network. The event will be supported by, amongst others, Dirk Leistner, Mayor of Witten, and Patrick Schulz from the Witten Climate Alliance.

The festival comprises a ‘Market of Opportunities’ where initiatives and projects can showcase themselves. There will also be several themed ‘matching islands’ where researchers and stakeholders can exchange ideas and make contacts on the spot. The aim is to raise the profile of existing projects and kick-start new ones. As part of the supporting programme, following a welcome address by the mayor, there will be several keynote talks on civic engagement, participatory research and change in Witten.

The event will be rounded off with a buffet of finger food and drinks.
Researchers from Witten/Herdecke University, staff from the city council and the local business community, stakeholders from the civic engagement sector and all interested members of the public are invited to the festival.
