Artistic interventions for the new UW/H building
To celebrate the move into the new building, artists were invited to perform specially developed works in the new building. These interventions developed their perspectives on the architecture and functionality of the building and thus accompanied the process of familiarisation with the new environments for teaching, learning and living.
Anne Schülke & Detlef Klepsch, "Associations UW/H", site-specific intervention, 07.06.2022 - 17.10.2022
ASSOCIATIONS UW/H takes up the daily cleaning of the building: Remnants and sound recordings of cleaning processes become part of an artistic intervention consisting of two banners and an audio work. On several dates, the artist duo could be seen at work - and participate in the project!
Anne Schülke & Detlef Klepsch primarily collected everyday found objects, which they documented. Instead of using photography, they opted for the now omnipresent technique of scanning. The focus is on the process in which things lose their intrinsic materiality and are transformed from things that we want to touch into images that we want to look at.
Alexander Steig "Flurfunk", video production, 08.12.2021 - 31.1.2022
As darkness fell, a video was projected onto the outer glass façade, simultaneously reproducing the corridor of the WittenLab and the movement of employees and visitors. The inner life of the building became visible on the outer skin; the levels of transparency and surveillance merged imperceptibly.
