Witten/Herdecke University (UW/H) has once again been awarded top marks in the nationwide CHE University Ranking - this time for its Master's degree programme in Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy. The UW/H clearly stands out from the average and once again confirms its strong position in a nationwide comparison.

In the category "General study situation", the Master's degree programme achieved 4.4 out of 5 stars. One component that contributes to this is the practical orientation of teaching (4.6): Students emphasise the quality and quantity of courses with practical relevance as well as the practical relevance of the skills acquired. "The modules are very much geared towards the skills and experience initially required in the licence to practise and later needed in practice, which gives the course content particular personal relevance," according to an anonymous response to the survey. The transition to the Master's programme was also praised (4.4 stars): The UW/H provides support with formal procedures at the beginning of the Master's programme and the relationship between the Bachelor's and Master's is clearly recognisable. Students also appreciate the study-related offers for subject-related questions (e.g. tutorials/additional courses for courses and exam preparation).

Excellent support and clear structure

The category "Support from teaching staff" is also particularly positive: With 4.5 stars, the UW/H achieves a top score here. Students emphasise the accessibility of lecturers and the support they provide with questions and problems just as positively as the discussion of assignments and examinations to be prepared and the didactic skills of lecturers. The organisation of studies is also rated very well with 4.2 stars - this is mainly due to the fact that the number of participants in the courses is appropriate from the students' point of view and corresponds to the type of course. The UW/H also scores significantly better (4.4 stars) than the national average (3.5 stars) when it comes to supporting study abroad programmes.

"We are very pleased with the strong result of our Master's degree programme in the CHE ranking," says Prof. Dr Thomas Ostermann, Head of the School of Psychology and Psychotherapy. "This shows that we create a clear connection between patient-orientated teaching, personal support and outstanding research. The fact that our Master's students confirm this so clearly is an important signal for us and our entire team."
