Feroze Menon from India has been awarded the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Prize for 2020 at Witten/Herdecke University (UW/H). To give a face to the increasing number of international students at German universities and to document their importance to the community, universities have the opportunity to award the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Prize to a student each year. The award-winning students are exemplary for their fellow students from all over the world.

Feroze Menon is in his third semester of the Witten Master's degree programme in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE). "He is an excellent example of how much the university benefits from the diversity of its students," said laudator Prof Dr Joachim Zweynert at the virtual award ceremony. "He is a very smart, talented and yet humble student who never tries to dominate the discussion in lectures, but always listens to and respects the opinions of others." He is now using the experience he gained in the administration of Ashoka University in India to help his fellow students in Witten start their careers. He also works as a tutor on the "Quantitative Methods" course at UW/H.

The award ceremony took place during the annual "Meet and Greet", the reception for international students, with UW/H Vice President Dr Dirk Jakobs and was held virtually for the first time this year.
