Information portal for research data management: UW/H participates in the platform forschungsdaten.info

The Service and Contact Centre for Research Data Management (FDM) at Witten/Herdecke University participates in the platform forschungsdaten.info, the German-language information portal on research data management. The aim is to provide research support through practical articles on FAIR research data management.

The website on handling research data in medicine is currently being redesigned. The UW/H's Research Data Management Service and Contact Centre is involved in the editorial work.

All of these pages provide an introduction to research data management with practical, thematic and discipline-specific articles. They are primarily dedicated to RDM in German-speaking countries, the "National Research Data Infrastructure" (NFDI) and many useful "hands-on" tips for everyday life in and with research (best practices, tools/research tools).

The platform thus provides information on the important topics along the data life cycle (planning and structuring; organising and working; rights and obligations; storing and publishing; preserving and reusing) as well as on current dates (events, e.g. workshops) that may be useful to UW/H researchers. RDM initiatives and projects from German-speaking countries present themselves here.

Information is provided on various scientific fields such as chemistry, humanities, computer science, life sciences, psychology, social and behavioural sciences or economics and others, including those of the UW/H, e.g. medicine or health research.

The subject-specific characteristics of RDM are placed at the centre, as there is no one generic RDM. The work is always dependent on the discipline and its standards. Use cases should always serve as an orientation model here and interested parties can find out about research data repositories in their fields on forschungsdaten.info, for example.

The UW/H network with forschungsdaten.info is important because the editorial work always leads to an exchange on important and current topics within the RDM community.
