Is there a chance for peace? Peace table with Gerald Häfner

The discussion round with the question “Is there a chance for peace?” marks the start of the new academic exchange format “Peace Table” at Witten/Herdecke University. People from Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and all countries around the world who feel called to engage in calm, respectful, and academically oriented dialogue are invited to this meeting.
 

The Peace Table sees itself as a place for listening, reflection and shared understanding. It is neither a political forum for debate nor a place for media confrontation, but a protected academic space in which perspectives, experiences and scientific findings can be brought together - with the basic conviction that genuine dialogue only arises where people meet each other with dignity.

The focus is on questions such as:

• How can peace be understood and lived as a scientific, cultural and human competence?
• Which experiences and research approaches from different countries can help to promote understanding?
• Which forms of dialogue and cooperation contribute to taking a fresh look at external conflicts and internal attitudes?

The guest speaker is Gerald Häfner, former member of the Bundestag.

The event will be held in English and German. Participation is free of charge.
