Education. Digital. Tailored to needs.

A new approach to learning – for the care sector of tomorrow
The idea for Novaheal arose from everyday life in the healthcare sector: Valentin Johannsen and Samuel Bongartz, both qualified nursing staff and now medical students at the UW/H, were looking for a digital resource during their training that would make knowledge practical, reliable and quickly accessible. As no such tool existed, they promptly set about developing the basis for a learning app that truly understands nursing trainees. Together with Turan Tahmas, a school friend with business management expertise and start-up experience, they founded Novaheal.
What began as a personal solution is now a comprehensive learning platform that supports nursing trainees across Germany. Novaheal brings together knowledge from all areas: from clinical pictures and nursing interventions to medication overviews. Multimedia content such as texts, illustrations, videos and quiz elements make learning interactive, engaging and accessible at any time. The digital learning companion is designed to instil confidence in day-to-day professional practice, ease the burden on teachers and measurably improve learning outcomes.
Behind the app is an interdisciplinary editorial team comprising nursing educators and nursing researchers, who regularly develop and update new content. Through partnerships, such as with the Berlin Bildungscampus – Germany’s largest nursing college – Novaheal ensures that all information remains didactically sound and practice-oriented. This enables qualified nursing staff to regularly test their knowledge and undertake further training.
The founders’ goal is clear: Novaheal is set to become an integral part of every nursing school and every hospital in Germany. In 2024, the company became part of Amboss SE – with the mission of jointly shaping the education of all healthcare professions in a cross-professional manner.
